Design Thinking Seminar for CXOs, Entrepreneurs and Leaders on June 14, 2017
American Tamil Entrepreneurs Association (ATEA) oragnized a Design Thinking Seminar for CXOs, Entrepreneurs, Strategists and Leaders on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 (6 pm to 9 pm) to be held in Santa Clara, California. This was an invite only event with limited seats.
The Design Thinking seminar will have you spend an evening learning and practicing alternative paths to leadership and innovation by applying Design Thinking tools to strategy, product, innovation and engagement. In this session, you will learn to embed experience design in your organizations by:
- Truly understanding your customer
- Bringing empathy to the organization
- Designing in real-time
- Acting quickly
The seminar involves going through a condensed and simple approach to practice Design Thinking tools and techniques you can apply to address your own business challenges.
The Design Thinking Seminar will be facilitated by the IT industry veteran L C Singh, Chairman and CEO of Nihilent Technologies, a worldwide change management and consulting firm.

ATEA GTEN Spring Event on 4th May 2017 in Silicon Valley
ATEA Silicon Valley chapter has planned GTEN (Global Tamil Entrepreneurs Network) 2017 Spring Meet on 4th May 2017 – prior to the TiECon 2017 Entrepreneurship conference.
Date: 4th May 2017, Thursday

ATEA SV Event on Wednesday, March 22, 2017
ATEA Silicon Valley chapter held a meetup event on Wednesday, 22 March 2017 at 6.00 pm in Intuit, Mountain View, CA.
Michel Susai, serial entrepreneur, and founder of Netscaler (acquired by Citrix in 2005) and NeoAccel (acquired by VMware in 2011) is the guest speaker for this segment of the event.
Michel shared his entrepreneurial journey to the audience.
Building, Scaling and Selling SaaS Products
Ravi Ravichandran is currently Architect and Technical Evangelist at Salesforce.com. Prior to this, he founded Symbra. He was with Oracle and several top accounting / consulting organizations earlier. He is an expert in SaaS / IaaS / PaaS technologies.
Ravi spoke on Building, Scaling and Selling SaaS products.

February 16, 2017 ATEA Business Mixer Event
ATEA Silicon Valley has scheduled a chapter meeting on 16th February 2017. Suja Chandrasekaran, CIO of Kimberly-Clark will be the guest speaker for the networking / mixer event.

Short Bio: Suja is the Global CIO of Kimberly-Clark Corporation, former SVP and Global Chief Technology and Data Officer of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., and former VP and CTO of PepsiCo. Prior to joining as a new board member of 8K Miles, Suja served on the board of the Symphony Technology Group Portfolio Companies. Suja has earned a number of awards for her work including being featured as “Top 10 Women in Tech” by Chain Store Age, Digital Visionary in Consumer Goods by CGT, “Top 10 Leaders of Digital and Technology” by the Financial Times, and Top 50 Diverse Executives by Diversity MBA Magazine.
Suja brings more than 20 years of experience in technology and leadership roles in both the consumer goods and retail industries, including some of the world’s greatest retail and consumer goods organizations. Currently, She serves as the Global CIO for Kimberly-Clark Corporation, where she is leveraging her strong track record of leading technology and digital organizations to deliver significant value to Kimberly-Clark and its customers. With its well-known brands such as Kleenex, Scott, Huggies, Pull-Ups, Kotex and Depend, Kimberly-Clark products are an indispensable part of life for people in more than 175 countries.
Suja recently transitioned from serving as SVP, Global Chief Technology Officer and Chief Data Officer at Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the Fortune 1 Company in the world. She has led technology and data transformation for Wal-Mart US, Sam’s Club and Wal-Mart International. Prior to that, she has served as Global Chief Information Officer of The Timberland Company, where she was accountable for the Footwear, Apparel & Accessories retailer’s technology, ecommerce and digital transformation.
As the VP and Chief Technology Officer of PepsiCo North America, Suja led the company’s digital and technology strategy and delivery for its business units including Frito Lay, Pepsi Beverages, Quaker, Tropicana, Gatorade and Pepsi Bottling.
As the CIO of Transformation, for Nestle Americas, Suja led the world’s largest food & beverage company’s business transformation initiatives including business process, technology and data transformation for the company’s Global Business Excellence (GLOBE) across Nestle Americas.
Suja has executive development education from London Business School and earned her Master of Business Systems at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia and Bachelors in Electrical Engineering from the University of Madras, India.
Temple University’s FOX School of Business awarded her the IT Leader of the Year award in 2013 for her accomplishments in global digital leadership as a big data and advanced analytics leader and practitioner. She has been named as one of Top 10 Digital & Technology Leaders in the United States by Financial Times—which also nominated Suja for board of director memberships of several public companies. Other honors include being named as one of the Top 50 Diverse Executives of 2014 by Diversity MBA Magazine, and as one of the world’s most “ICONIC” Women Leaders in Technology by Interop, Information Week, India.

ATEA SV 2016 Holiday Mixer
American Tamil Entrepreneurs Association (ATEA) – Silicon Valley chapter had organized a Holiday Mixer on Thursday (12/22/2016) evening at 6:30 pm at 415 Oakmead Parkway, Sunnyvale, CA 94085 (NW corner of Oakmead and Arques).
There were no guest speakers. Enjoyed beer and snacks, and mixed with the participants!
This was a great opportunity to meet with ATEA SV team leaders, members and community at large.
With a smaller audience of 65 particpants, it was easy to network and speak with specific individuals.

Dec 3, 2016 ATEA Silicon Valley soft launch and meet at ICC, Milpitas
ATEA Silicon Valley chapter organizied the soft launch event on 3rd December, 2016 from 9 AM to 12:30 PM.
An entrepreneurial story and a Tech Talk were part of the event.

Kumar Rangarajan, Facebook – TEATalk – Entrepreneurial journey
Kumar is the Software Engineering Manager at Facebook.
He founded Little Eye Labs in Bangalore which was acquired by Facebook. Little Eye Labs developed a performance monitoring and analysis tool for mobile developers.
Prior to that he was with Blue Coat Systems, S7 Software Solutions and IBM India, Rational Software, HP India and GE Medical Systems.
Kumar will share his entrepreneurial journey from Bangalore to Silicon Valley.
Karthik Ramasamy, Twitter – TechTalk – Big data, Analytics, Stream processing and Twitter Heron
Karthik is the Engineering Manager at Twitter. He founded the big data startup Locamatix in Sunnyvale which was acquired by Twitter. He is a faculty at EECS Department at UC Berkeley. Prior to this, he was in Juniper Networks.
Karthik is the author of the best selling book “Network Routing – Algorithms, Protocols and Architectures”, several publications and ten patents in large scale data processing.
He will share his expertise with big data, analytics, stream processing, and Twitter Heron.

ATEA Silicon Valley had an excellent event with Hemalatha Annamalai, Ampere Vehicles, a successful women entrepreneur from Coimbatore, India as a special speaker in June, 2016.
ATEA Silicon Valley had a meetup during TiECon in May 2016 in Santa Clara Convention Center in California. Over 150 members of Tamil origin from US and India participated in the event.
