American Tamil Entrepreneurs Association (ATEA) has announced Global Tamil Entrepreneurs Network (GTEN) Spring 2017 Conference in Silicon Valley on May 4, 2017 (a day before TiEcon 2017 – world’s largest Entrepreneurship Conference organized by TiE, Silicon Valley chapter).

C K Kumaravel, popularly called CKK, hails from a family which pioneered the `Sachet Economy’ in India two decades ago. Born into a business family that launched Velvette, India’s first sachet shampoo in the late 1970s,  Kumaravel had worked under elder brothers CK Rajkumar, who ran the family business.

Kumaravel launched Naturals Salon in 2000. Naturals currently operates over 550 beauty salons, with 220 of them in Tamil Nadu.

Naturals’ target is to have 3000 salons and create 1000 women entrepreneurs and 50,000 jobs by 2020. The company is working on franchise model. His goal is to make Naturals the No. 1 brand in the world by 2025. His wife, a co-founder of Naturals, Veena Kumaravel, played a key role in developing the first few salons.
