ATEA – the Data controller

When an event organizer (ATEA chapters or National) creates an event and connects the registration / ticketing with an external platform / ticketing gateway, such platform / application becomes the data controller of the data that is provided by the event organizer as part of the account opening process.

If a consumer provides personal details in the course of creating an Account, then in that case, ATEA becomes the controller of the data provided by the consumer to any such external application. ATEA would also be the controller of such data or details provided by the consumer or the event organizer for the usage of other services offered by external applications.

ATEA – The data processor

ATEA provides various services to its members and event attendees, such as issuing E-ticket for an event, sending emails to the consumer, processing online and offline payments, event marketing reports that analyze the effectiveness of various sales channels.

With this, it is evident that, in the course of its service offering, whether on behalf of the event organizing team of volunteers, or directly to the consumer, or on behalf of its sponsors, ATEAmay be both Controller as well as Processor.

Data Removal

ATEA as a data controller allows the organizing team to remove the data of the Consumer from the dashboard of the event. This can be accomplished by removing the event from the dashboard.

Organizers can also delete non-financial data of an event. In such cases, the personal data of the organizer / sponsor may be removed and at the same time, the personal data of the consumer will be anonymized. But in any case, the financial data of the attendee remains with the system for quite some time to fight chargeback or any other financial dispute with the regulatory agencies or bank.In case any of the attendee or the consumer wants ATEA to remove the personal data from the system, a delete request mail can be sent to privacy@ateausa.org / contact@ateausa.org for further action.

Email is an important part of event ticketing and as part of ATEA’s activities;ATEA has options to send emails to event attendees and registrants. ATEA may from time to time, use this feature for event marketing and sponsor promotion purposes. In event of this, the registrant / attendee has the option to comply with the opt-in consent.

Data Retention and Removal – For ATEA App with Zoom

ATEA as a data controller of the consumer’s (event attendees and members) data, allows the regional or chapter organizers to remove the data of the Consumer from the dashboard of the event. This can be accomplished by removing the event from the dashboard. In such cases, the event organizer will not be able to see the data. The Organizer retains its consumer data for the period as necessary to fulfill their need or as permitted by law.

Organizers can also delete their attendee data of an event. In such cases, the personal data of the consumer will be removed. However, if there is financial data associated with the consumer, the personal data of the consumer will be anonymized.
